Of Perjury
[(C) Belief] See Tit. [Simp. Falshoods] verbo [believe]
[(D) Declares] Perjury may be by writing, finger language, &c. It matters not by what signs the declaration is
made. See Tit. [Simp. Falshood] verbo [cause]. If a man
being dumb were to write down his evidence, or being unable
to write, were to deliver it by the finger language,
or by gestures, this might be Perjury.

Observations
Difference between an oath and a vow The sense Thise sense have given to the word Perjury
in as far as concerns the nature of the engagement
seems to quadrate pretty exactly to with the sense
commonly given to it in the case where it is made punishable
by law. There is besides however another
sense which is given to it in other occasions: that I
mean in which it is put for the breach not of an oath, as here, but of a vow.
The nomenclature commonly employ'd upon this
subject is not very explicit: and indeed it is difficult
enough to ascertain the difference between the things
