C Of Adultery
Husband she may be made to forfeit two fourths of
of such fortune whereof one fourth shall be to her Husband;
the other fourth to such Child or in equal shares
amongst such Children. If she hath no Child, the other fourth
may also be given to the Husband unless the Judge for particular
reasons should order otherwise.

3. Her name may be registered in the Book of Adultery.
4. She may be made to wear the Adulteress's Garment for a
certain time, in a manner more or less public.
Extenuation Excuse I.
1. If for the space of half a year she has had no tidings of her
husband, he having deserted her without notice.Desertion at initio.
Extenuation Excuse II.
2. If for the space of three years she has had no tidings of her husband,
he having quitted her with notice.(a)
Desertion ex post facto.
Extenuation Excuse III.
3. If within a year before he hath lived in open Adultery with
a woman in the same house with her.

(a) Here there would need a provision with respect to sea-faring people
going out upon long Voyages, for instance to the East-Indies.
