Of Confinement
3. The being obliged to change the state of living to which
he has been accustomed to another state of living less agreable: to wit in respect
of diet, cloathing and lodging.
4. The being totally deprived of the society of his
relations friends and acquaintance
5. The finding it more or less difficult to converse
even with such persons as he sees; on account to wit
for want of being acquainted with their language
6. The being obliged to conform himself to a
set of strange and unknown laws.
7. The being obliged to conform to the ceremonies of a strange religion:
or at least the being confined in the practise
of those of his own.
8. The being subjected in a greater or less degree
to most of the hardships which are apt to result from any
a closer confinement of to which he might be subjected
in a place not strange to him. See above
