To compel oaths the taking of an oath or p 3. To extort oaths or promises. 2. To compel the party to take one an oath or
make a promise to such or such an effect. Remedy
If the oath or promise were observed, the
mischief would be susceptible of an indefinite variety
of shapes. Remedy. Let the legislator in
his auxiliary capacities of head of the church
and Director of the moral sanction declare such
oaths and promises to be void as well in
point of honour as of conscience. To p. 40. last par. par 3

Where the confinement is designed to injury object of the offence
some person that is to compel the
party confined or any other person to do or abstain from doing such
or such a thing.
