Of Semi-public Offences in general
either with no other purpose than to intimidate the
inhabitants or with some other unlawful purpose
which is not particularly known. Simple mental injuries So if a man were to let loose

7. Simple mental Injuries 7. Simple mental injuries. With This division
of is an offence which may as frequently almost
be levelled at a neighbourhood as at an individual.
Instances are where a man wantonly and without occasion exposes his nakedness
in a street or road to the view of passengers: or exhibits
obscene prints in his shop windows: or
writes obscene words against a wall: or of where a man
beggar to extort alms exposes to the indiscriminate view of passengers
some loathsome sore. So if a man were to
disinter a body lately dead and expose it wantonly

NOTE
Resurrection-men (a) The people who disinter dead bodies for the use of
surgeons and anatomists are called in London by a
sort of nick-name, Resurrection-men. This is a useful
and therefore commendable employment. But for the
reason above given as well as in deference to the prejudices
of the people, laws ought to be made of such
manner a nature as without putting a stop to the practise altogether,
it may oblige them to carry it on with as much secrecy
as possible.
