or to be counterfeit, may cut it in two upon the spot: if it prove
bad, or not of due weight, the party tendering it may take it
back again but shall bear the loss: if it prove good and of due
weight the party to whom it was tendered shall be bound to
take it, for what it was coined for. For the method of
settling the dispute, see B. II. Of Procedure. Tit. [Suspected Coin]
Provisions of Procedure.

Disputes how to be Determined. If the party who tendered it thinks himself aggrieved
he may complain to the Judge who shall determine the dispute;
and if the piece appears to him to be good and of due weight
and that the party who refused it had no reason to suspect
it he may order him to pay him who tendered it any sum not
exceeding [ ] for his loss of time: and if he should deem
it to have been refused out of malice merely to put him who
tendered it to inconvenience he may order the aggressor to pay
to the party aggrieved any sum not more than thrice the former,
over and above compensation for the inconvenience.
