C Simple Personal Injuries
=quely intentional.
Damage ultimately intermediately intentional, intermediately ultimately intentional
Personal damage which is directly intentional may
be either intermediately that in other words subserviently intentional,
either or ultimately intentional. or intermediately that is
subserviently intentional. It is ultimately intermediately or subserviently intentional
when [the consideration of the very pain produced by it
is] the inducement to produce it results from the consideration not of is not that very pain
but some other event to the production of which that
pain is or appears to be necessary: it is ultimately
intentional when that inducement <add>results from is the consideration of
that very pain.</add> It is ultimately intentional when the production of
it is aimed at as an end: intermediately or subserviently
intentional, when aimed at as a means.
Example
Thus if when you struck the man it was because
you bore him a grudge and on account of the pleasure
you expected to receive from seeing him suffer, it was ultimately
intentional: if it was because being a surgeon
you expected to get money by relieving him from
that pain, the pain tho' still directly intentional was—
intermediately only or subserviently intentional
