True it also is that accounts of the debates
themselves are published pretty regularly in
the newspapers: and that the conductors of these
papers do some of them [find means pretty very frequently regular as it happens
to] gain admittance along with other strangers.
How fallacious are the accounts given by
these strolling itinerant regulars, these traders in party in
scandal, I need not undertake to say. But suppose
them as well inclined as with a very few
exceptions they are commonly ill inclined to be
correct, would they be allow'd to be so? Oh, by no
means: so sure as a man stranger attempts to committ
a syllable to writing so sure is he to be turned
out of the house.
It is pleasant after this to hear see a
member get up in the house and as you may do
any day and complain of misrepresentation, and
perhaps threaten talk of prosecution. The answer to all such
complaints is very simple. "Sir, if you have indeed
