Had it not been for the cloud that gathered over the
and now for a time at least has hidden from sight withdrawn f out of the reach of human eyes the
proposed Chamber of Review, and with it whatsoever comments
had been or could be written on it, the extracts which I had
proposed from this invaluable manuscript would have found their
way into this letter. As it is I shall hardly have
occasion to send any of them to the press, unless the
substance and which I have here given should
call forth an attack provoke the hostility of scepticism, and force me to the
production of them in my own defence.
