What I am now a suitor for – to be spent
every penny of it in the public service, is not
more than so much as wha what I have been out of pocket for
some years.
A prison upon the same
Designs for a prison which is to be built
upon the same a similar plan (the Inspection plan) for 10,000
French prisoners, are preparing by order, for the
Admiralty. The benefit of whatever and
attention is bestowed upon that plan structure would be shared
by mine.
The experiment would thus be tried without with little
or no extra advance: and moreover without any ultimate
any expence to the public. For supposing the
Penitentiary plan abandoned altogether, whatever
money I can could prove myself to have disbursed
upon it, would I suppose be restored to me some
how or other at the public expence: it is not supposed
that I am to set down finally with the loss,
though so large a portion of my life has been consumed
under the preface of it.
As soon as the permanent Building were up,
the public would reap the benefit of the reduced
price: and, to speed me, let the reduction take place
within a twelvemonth of my being put in possession
of the ground.
