Thames Police Bill
And be it further enacted, that in
In every such case so declared to be a misdemeanour
as aforesaid every person so adjudged
to have been guilty of such misdemeanour
may and shall forfeit and pay not less more than
[ ] nor more less than any sum not exceeding three months [£10] to be levied by distress and may moreover
at the discretion of the Justice or Justices before
whom he or she shall have been convicted be or
to be publickly or privately whipped
also or to be imprisoned in any Jail or House with or without the obligation of Hard
Labour in any House of Correction or other prison within the jurisdiction
of such Justices for any time not exceeding three calendar months. said corporation : and for every offence committed
after having been convicted conviction of any offence
against this present Act or any similar offence
against the said Act of the second year of his Majestys
Reign any sum not exceeding £20, and may
moreover at like discretion be ordered to be whipped
or to be imprisoned as aforesaid for any time not exceeding
six months: or to suffer both the said corporal
punishment: and so on toties quoties, for every first
offence committed after repeated convictions for former
offences; the greatest punishment which can be inflicted for every each offence
committed after preceding convictions being sh double
to the greatest punishment which was or could have
been inflicted for the on the conviction last preceding
such offence: and moreover if any such offender be
a Member of the Watermens Company of the City
of London he shall be adjudged and declared to
have forfeited his freedom of the said Company, and
to be incapable of exercising the craft and
occupation
of a Waterman any where upon the said river. Settle the phraseology here by the proper documents.
