17. Master Lumpers
17 16. Class the seventeenth. sixteenth. Every person seeking his or her living
by contracting with the Owner of the Cargo of any
Ship or other such Vessel, or any part of such Cargo
or with any agent for of such owner, for the
loading or unloading of such Cargo or any part
thereof, such person employing others as Labourers
with or under him or herself in the execution of
such business. License-Duty, within the limits of the London
Police Distrct, or of the Port of London, [ ], elsewhere [ ]: Inscription for the
House Licenced Master Lumper or Licenced Principal
Lumper. Penal Sum in the Recognizance, [ ].
18 17. Class the eighteenth seventeenth. Every person seeking his or her living by helping
to load or unload the Cargo of any Ship or other
such Vessel , not being an by contract or otherwise,
and being paid for him or herself only, and not being
in any other respect in the service of the Master
of such Vessel, or of the any owner of the cargo or of any
part of the cargo thereof. business Licence-Duty,
within the London Police District, [ ]; elsewhere, [ ]:
Inscription for the abode, as also for the person in
the way of Badge, Licenced Common Working Lumper.
