Electioneering
prohibited, on the
part of Police Officers.

(6) §. 12. And be it further enacted, that no Member
of the said Board, nor any such Country
Commissioner or Police Magistrate as aforesaid
nor any Surveyor or other subordinate Officer
or Clerk acting under the authority of the said
Board shall during his continuance in such
his Office or employment give any vote, or directly
or indirectly endeavour to persuade any Elector
to give, or dissuade any Elector from giving,
his vote for the choice of any person to be
a Member of the House of Commons, on pain
of forfeiting the sum of one hundred pounds
to be received by any person that shall sue
for the same in any of his Majesty's Courts
of Record at Westminster, in which no Essoin
or Wages of Law, nor more than an Imparlance
shall be allowed.
