Board to appoint
Surveyors and grant
Licences, whenever the
business fails of being
gone through otherwise.
(9). §. 21 And be it further enacted that if an
every no such appointment of Surveyor as aforesaid
shall be not be valid unless the same be shall have been made fourteen days at the least
before the day on which latest day on
which notices are
allowed to be given
by persons making
application for licences

are allowed to be
made for licences
under and by
virtue of this Act;
day before the first
of August next ensuing
commencement of the space of time allowed for
the granting of licences and under this Act; and if
in any such Division or Country Police
District as aforesaid it should happen that the

time limit at the expiration of such time
hereby allowed any such Office of Surveyor shall
have remained unfilled (whether by reason
that no fit person shall have been found able
and willing to undertake the said Office of Police
Magistrate, or that in any such Police District
or Sub District as aforesaid no sufficient appointment
of Surveyor shall have been made by the Police Magistrate
of the such District) then and in such case it shall
and may be lawful to and for the said Board to fill
up every such vacancy resulting from every such
default as aforesaid: and if in any such
Country Police District it should happen that within the
time herein above limited for granting licences
shall have elapsed without any no sufficient
course shall have been taken for the granting or
refusing the same a licence to every person
making application for the same (whether it be by reason
that no sufficient meeting or meetings were holden for that the said purpose
within such time or otherwise) it shall and may
