V. Provide a
Penalty for dealing
with Licence

(1) § 034 § 32
Penalty for
dealing without
licence and
for infringing regulations
made by the Board.

And be it further enacted, that if [+] [+] in any District or Division in which a Meeting shall have been duly holden for the granting of licences as aforesaid, any
person who by reason of any occupation exercised
by him or her is hereby required to take out any
such licence as aforesaid under and by virtue
of this Act shall, at any time after the said 29th
of September next ensuing [ or in case of the giving
such notice as aforesaid of an earlier time period day
as aforesaid then at any time after such earlier
day]
(save and except in case of any such adjournment
as is herein above allowed for inquiry
into character) exercise such occupation without
having taken duly taken out and received such his
licence, (whether such default took place for want
of due application made for such licence, or by reason
that on such application such licence was
refused) every such person so offending shall forfeit
on conviction before any one Justice of the Peace
forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding less than [ ]
nor less nor more than [ ]. Provided nevertheless that
no person shall be liable to any penalty for exercising
any such occupation without being licenced
unless
and every such licenced Purchaser as aforesaid
who shall offend against any regulation which shall have been lawfully
made by made and published by and by the authority of the said Commiss Board of Police in virtue
and pursuance of the powers herein in that behalf
above given to the said Board, shall for every such offense
on conviction before any one Justice as aforesaid, or
before the said Board as the case may be, forfeit
and pay any such sum not more exceeding [ £ 5 ]
or any such other sum not exceeding the said sum
of [ £ 5 ] as shall in each case have been appointed
in that behalf by and by the authority of the said Board.
