§ 45 continued

shall or other suffering cause or attempt to cause any
false information to be received by the said Commissioners
knowing the same to be false, or without having any
probable cause for believing or supposing the same to be true, shall
forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding £ 10, over

recoverable as any other of the penalties of this Act are made recoverable, over
and above over and above all such penalties or
damages as such offender may already be liable
to by law: and if any person with any such intent
as aforesaid shall and using any false or fictitious name
or declaring any false or fictitious place of abode
for the purpose of with any such malitious intent as aforesaid shall cause or attempt to
cause any such false information as aforesaid to
be received as aforesaid, knowing the same to be
false, or without having any probable cause for
believing the same to be true, and in so doing
shall omitt to sign or otherwise declare his or her true name
or his or her abode place of abode, so described as that he or she may with ordinary
diligence be found
thereby, or
shall subscribe or use or declare any false or
fictitious name or abode or use any other false device for the purpose of preventing
its being known that he or she hath is
the person was that the person, or <add>causing it to be believed that any other person was the person or one of the persons by whom such information was so
communicated or attempted to be communicated,
so that any such person so offending and being
convicted thereof on indictment shall be punished
by fine and imprisonment, and may moreover be
set in the Pillory for such number of hours, and
for such length of time, and in such place or places
as the Court before in which such offender shall
have been convicted shall appoint.
