Stoxes are Sold twice over to the public. These Metals
are Sold to Dealers at g/6 wt which cost Government
from 25/ to 28/. Besides the Kings Stores
the Metals of different kinds Stolen by Children
Apprentices Servants Journeymen & in the various
foundries and Work Shops about London exceed all
credibility. It is pretty well ascertained now that
the Publicans alone within the Bills of mortality
lost £60,000 a Year in Pewter Pots which are
melted and Sold at the Iron and Pewter Shops
to the extent of 676 Tons Yearly. These Old Iron
Shops are now to be found wherever the Kings Yards
or Repositorys are situated for the convenience of
buying every thing that is brought in small quantity
from these places it is supposed that under regulations
there may be a resource in Town and Country in

Dealers by Retail in old Iron and other Metals there
are much more numerous than the wholesale dealers
and also the most fraudulent because they are the
immediate receivers from every Person who has any
Stolen property to dispose of which they again Sell
for ready money to the Wholesale dealers at from
40 to 50 PCent profit and they generally turn
their Money 40 or 50 times a Year. The Iron
collected at these Shops is generally sold to the great
wholesale Dealers who confine their trade to Old
Iron only without touching other Metals and
warehouses of these Dealers are said to be so large
as to cover an Acre of Ground and they are extremely
opulent. The Brass is generally Sold to Founders
to mix up with new Brass which is greatly
wanted because otherwise the Metal would be
