18. Geo: 2. ch. 33. Carts &c §. 4. & 5 . . . . . "No person . . . . shall
"drive any Cart . . . . within the limits aforesaid, unless the
". . . . Owner . . . . . shall place upon some conspicuous part
"of such Cart . . . . the name of the Owner . . . . and the
"number of such Cart . . . . in order that the Driver . . . .
"may be the more easily convicted for and any . . . . Mis-
"-behaviour . . . ."

ib § ibid. §. 5. "being Owner of such Cart . . . . shall enter
"his name and place of abode, with the Commissioners
"for licencing Hackney-Coaches, for which entry he shall
"pay the sum of one shilling and no more; and the
"said Commissioners are hereby authorized and required
"to receive and register such Entry as aforesaid."

30 Geo. 2. c. 22. Car Carts &c after reciting, and
providing for the execution of the preceding Act in §. 1 & § 2 goes
on and says . . "Every time the property of any Cart
" . . . . entered with the Commissioners &c . . . shall be altered,
"the new Owner or Owners thereof shall, from time to
"time, within seven an days next after . . . . . they
"shall become . . . . Owners . . . cause the . . names of the
"former . . . . Owners thereof to be taken off . . . . and the
". . . . names of the true and real . . . . owners thereof
"to be put or painted in large and legible characters
"upon some conspicuous part thereof, and also to be
"entered with the said Commissioners . . . . ."
