Observations on §

§. 6. [ 1 ]. Police Warehouses] p. 10 By the Bumboat Act ( 2 Geo. 3. c. ) goods
seized under this Act are to be deposited with the
Commissioners of the Parish for 30 days. This serves
to shew the difficulty of finding a fit place.
If the Bumboat Act had been frequently executed,
the inconvenience to the persons loaded with
this obligation would might have become intolerable. To
a fe For a few particular articles such as may
come to be found on the person of a thief &c the present
existing Police Offices may and do serve. But under the
present Bill the whole stock in trade of a wholesale
Dealer, or of several such Dealers at once,
may come to be disposed of: and being in many
instances articles of inconsiderable value separately
considered, the bulkiness of them will be proportionable.

§. 6 [ 2 ] [ Shall have been found ]. p. 11. Under the Excise
Laws of Customs and Excise, provision is prov made
in most if not all cases instances, for the making use in this way of
any carriages, in which seized goods are found,
when seized. The same reason or rather necessity
which applies to those moveable receptacles in those
cases, applies to the fixed receptacles in question
in the present case: and the powers respecting
satisfaction though it is apprehended the case may
not applies in softening in that case which is not
applied in these. In general, the demand for any
such satisfaction will hardly exist: the only case
in which it appears likely to exist, is that of some miserable
old iron shop or rag shop, in which the room is
so confined, that there is no separate room or lock-up place
