Necessity of including
Brokers
in the licencing
System
Among articles of for wear and tear, articles
formed consisting of filamentory substances, and articles formed
composed of materials of the filamentory kind, [+] [+] (comprehending goods and goods) and
articles composed of materials of the metallic kind
& constitute two principal and very prominent classes.
The amount of the articles comprised under
these two classes respectively is so considerable as
to have furnished employment to different classes<add> divers subordinate classes a species of
Brokers of a limited description when dealings
have respectively confined themselves respectively to these articles. But
though these classes of articles embrace perhaps
by much the greatest part of the property exposed to depredation,
they do not, (as we have seen) by any means embrace the
whole of it [+] [+] not even the whole not so much as the whole of the wear & tear branch. Hence, to reside pursue the principle
as far as it leads, and to render the system
perfect and consistent, it seems necessary to compose
the main body of the Brokers business as well as the
particular branches that have detached themselves from
it. A Broker at large will not find it easy
to carry on his business without qualifying himself
by a licence to deal in the several species of
articles here herein already particularized. Household
furniture seems appears to constitute in gener the principal part
of the subject matter of the dealings of the Broker:
but as the purpose, for which the Broker is called
in, generally includes every thing vendible that a
house contains, it would be an operation attended
with a good deal of perplexity to the purchaser the
Broker
