My dear Sam.l
Your last gave me much pleasure, more especially to
find ys you & your Friend in Town shew'd much attention to
your Safety, which as you observe, is my principal Concern, not
but that I cod wish you may consult the Course that might
best answer your Destination; so it is done consistently wth
your personal Security. If you trust yourself to a Dutch Fishing
Vessel you may be taken yourself, or at least your Baggage &
ale those credentials w.h you have been at the trouble of procuring,
& then only consider, in either Case, what a situation you wod
find yourself in, either made a Captive yourself, & confined in
some very disagreable Place, or divested of all the recommendations
of approval &c and your Letters the use of w.h is to procure you an agreable
Reception where ever you go. & will not w..ch you may expect
to meet with every thing yt is Reverse of what those Letters
will certainly procure you; but if you avail yourself of
in Coushin's friendly others you will go with as
much Security as the Sea ca. possibly afferd you under the
present Circumstances of affairs, & will let me quite at ease
about you in that respect, & after telling me yt that Consideration
had its weight with you, I was sorry to find you tell me you
cod not absolutely determine to stay for the Lectures; the Delay can
other Contrive to get to in a neutral Ship if you were ever to go
