Box 3 contains a wide range of Bentham’s writings on the subject of political economy, the vast majority of which was written between 1799 and 1801. As well as containing part of the plans for his Annuity Note scheme (the manuscripts of which are found principally in Box 1 and Box 2) Box 3 contains his writings on several related projects. These include his writings entitled ‘Paper Mischief’, ‘The True Alarm’, and ‘Defence of a Maximum’, which are scheduled to appear in Writings on Political Economy: Volume V within The Collected Works of Jeremy Bentham.
