Click on your username on the toolbar at the top of the page to access your user profile. You can populate your profile with information about your background, interests and anything else you would like to share with the Transcribe Bentham community. You can check your message board for messages from the Transcribe Bentham Editors or other transcribers. Users are awarded points for edits and advance up the progress ladder as points are accumulated.

My Contributions

My Preferences

Click on Preferences in the toolbar at the top of the screen to tailor the site to your needs. Here you can change your password and personal details; re-set the language and adjust the screen layout. You can opt to receive e-mails when a page on your watchlist (see below) has been edited.

My Watchlist

To watch a page is to monitor the edits on the page. Watch a page by clicking 'Watch' on the row of page tabs at the top of any page. Your watchlist can be accessed by clicking My Watchlist on the tool bar at the top of the screen or by viewing your profile. Your watchlist will display the recent changes made on each of your watched pages. Users are encouraged to use this feature in order to keep track of transcriptions they are in the process of editing. You can receive notifications by e-mail when one of your watched pages has been edited by clicking on the option in your preferences (see above).

My Contributions

Here you will find a list of all the contributions you have made to the site including any transcriptions you have done; edits you have made to pages; and the dates on which these changes were made. Access your contributions by clicking on My Contributions in the toolbar at the top of the screen or by viewing your profile (see above).

User interaction

You can view the profiles of other users by clicking on their username. When you are viewing another user's profile, you can add them as a friend or write a message on their messageboard. If you do come across a manuscript which has been partially transcribed by another volunteer and aren't sure whether you should change anything, do drop the other volunteer(s) a message about it.
