1818 April 15 Annuity Notes Advertisement


In the one of the Tables attached to the following ensuing plan In <add>On one of the sides of the proposed sort of note called an Annuity Note</add>
for a new currency] the reader will observe a place marked
out for a portrait. A portrait of the human face had presented
itself to me as that sort of document in the framing of
with which the work of an ordinary artist might is as it
appeared to me by be most generally and do promptly be
distinguished from that of a superior one.

This idea had formed a principal feature in a
plan which some twenty years ago or thereabouts more or less I caused to
be presented to the hands of one of the Bank Directors, It
