Power to Thames
Police Constables
to board Hoy's
&c in the King's
Service

And whereas great depredations have been
committed in and Hoy's on and upon his Majesty's Stores
in Hoy's and other such small Vessels as though
employed in his Majesty's service have not
by reason of their smallness any Officer commissioned
by his Majesty on board thereof and specially responsible <add> at all times for the behaviour of persons serving on the same board the same Be it
further enacted that it shall and may be
lawful to and for every any two such Thames Police
Constables as aforesaid in presence of each other with or without any Warrant
from the said Special Justice or any other
Justice or
at all times of the twenty
four hours to enter in and upon Search, examine [+] [+] and if necessary,
for such length of
time as shall be
necessary, and no
longer, to stop, &
detain, or turn out
of its course +

the Police
Boat to follow
every
Hoy, Lighter or Craft which shall then be actually employed or
which such Thames Police Constable shall have upon
which shall then and there appear to such Thames
Police Constable to be reasonable cause to believe to be then actually employ'd in his Majesty's
service for the conveyance of [provisions, liquors ]
[+] Such Cloth, Cordage, Gunpowder ] any [other] of his Majesty's Stores or any for or on
account of his Majesty's service [+] [+] and not under
the special command
of any officer
bearing his Majesty's
Commission or Warrant and
being then and there
on board the same
and every upon
deemed then and there trader by any such Thames Police Constable as aforesaid shall
through his authority to demand
all packages
and other things shall be shewn and produced
to him by the person having principally in charge
such Hoy, Lighter or Craft and by all other persons
on board of and belonging to the same, together
with all Bills of Lading and other papers
giving any account of the contents of such any of the Stores, cargo or other things
shipped on board of such Hoy, Lighter or other Craft for or on account
of his Majesty's service or otherwise:

taking having special care
not to avoid
prejudicing his the injuring doing or
any injury
to his Majesty's Service
in respect of such
stores by disturbing
the arrangement of
the several packages
or injuring creating waste or other injury in or to the several contents thereof
