7 Annuity Notes 1

I speak of what is capable of being done in the
nature of things: the case: and what might and would be done
supposing it worth while to engage Clerks enough, and
that Clerks enough were engaged accordingly (a)

two or three sets of Contracts drawn up, and signed,

Steps by which
it might be increased
— so as to
be nearly instantaneous

Such might be the rapidity of the conversion operation:
supposing even that no steps were taken for
obtaining the any co-operation on the part of the holders
of Stock Annuities, nor any means official arrangements
taken for giving producible what degree of despatch might
be deducible from that source.

But by an obvious official arrangement abundance
of time and labour might be saved: (and
by the sort of co operation on the of them as above hinted at, a still
further degree of expedition might be obtained.]

The journeys backwards and forward between Office and Office, and the
intervening operations on the part of the Commissioners,
are questions which however necessary but for certain
Official arrangements, may by means of such
arrangements be rendered altogether mindless.

Plan Article
The Office for the surrender of Stock or receipt of
the redemption money being in one room, let the Office
for issuing Annuity Notes on this occasion be in the
next. The Warrant will be given as at present in the
practice of the Bank: and on serve delivery of the Warrant, the
individual will be paid either in Cash or by an Clerk, or in Annuity Note paper by another, as he thinks fit.
