In the case of the Postlocal<add>Retail</add>Stamp Office Penny Post Office the
business of each transaction is notwithstanding less much more
than in that of the local<add>Retail Post</add> Stamp Office. In the
case of the Stamp-Office it consists merely
in the delivery of the Stamp to the customer
with one hand, and receiving the price of it
with the other: in the case of the Penny Post
Office it besides receiving taking in the letter and the money and
taking in the letter, an observation is to be made
whether it be paid for or no - and in the case
of a twopenny letter whether a penny only
or the whole twopence - and two stamps,
one of them the result of the above observation,
the other are to be impressed: the two taken together
being expression of the place, as also of
the time, by the designation of the Month, day of
the month, and Hour of the Day.
Upon the whole matter, the case of the Retail Stamp
business seems to concurr with the case of the
