efforts. Though it may be certain of prevailing the first of these courses may be sufficient to ensure
in some country or other, or even in most
countries, the second may be necessary to ensure
that benefit to our own. We know not, neither
is it possible we should know, how far the interposition
effects influence of our own endeavours are comprized in the
calculation. Under this uncertainty, the extreme
importance of the business will naturally suggest
the expediency necessity of adhering to the safest
side.
