p. motives

Having partly by partly by
purchased of A an insincere declaration, they by means of this

sincere one.

Having purchased
of A an insincere
Declaration something
between a sincere
and insincere one is
procured from B
C. D.

Thus by these crafty
tyrants a cloak
for their dishonesty & a
justification of their
tyranny is manufactured -
Could
a constant succession
of 10000 pious
right reverend very
reverend & reverend
persons have been
deceived or deceivers
then how many
you or any body
tax me with
insincerity - or error
in my professions?
This has long been

Thus it is that for those dishonest and crafty tyrants
a cloak for their dishonesty, and a plea
a justification and support for their tyranny - is
manufactured. - So many great and good men
- so many pious so many learned men. - so many
men some all of them most reverend, some right reverend,
venerable very reverend venerable or simply reverend
at the least - from the year 1562 down to this present year
two centuries and a half exactly "ten thousand'
of them altogether - ten thousand of them as observed
by the venerable Mr Archdeacon Paley "in perpetual
"succession", and therefore never fewer than ten thousand
of them at any one time — could all these
have meant to be deceivers? - could all these have
themselves have been deceived? Then with what
face can you can anybody — presume to tax accuse
me with of insincerity - aye or of error in professing
this belief which the whole Church of England
have has for all this vast length of time been professing is
professing all with one and with one voice.

and ye. children
of perversity how can you oppose
your judgment to
that of the
whole church.

And yet - the children of perversity - of heresy of schism - of obstinacy
of folly if not of wickedness with what face can ye pretend - each of ye you by for himself
and by himself - to oppose his private and particular judgement
to the aggregate sacred phalanx the aggregate
and public judgment of the whole body of the Church?
