Church ch. 6 II Topics
(3) p.1 Abstract
p1

7
Ah hypocrites!
what is your faith
to that manufactured
without expense
of ink & paper on
the banks of the
Ganges? How
many of you would
throw yourselves
under the Chariot
Wheels to seal
your faith with
your voluntarily
offered blood?

Ah, hypocrites! the faith of the web of faith thus manufactured
by subscriptions, what is the strength of that faith compared with that
which for so many centuries not to any time of centuries -
time, been without any such expence of ill employed
ink and paper, been with such regularity manufactured upon the banks
of the Ganges? Of your number How many are there, or have
there ever been who when while the chariot of
was running its course, would in consequence
and in token of your belief, your faith, have
thrown yourselves themselves under the wheels, sealing their your
faith with your their voluntarily offered blood?

8
Thus by punishment
& reward
or either faith
is manufactured
with as much
certainty as the
moving manufactories
of it are kept in
motion by rice or
potatoes.

Thus it is, that with punishment in one hand
and reward in the other — or if need were be, with
either, [+]
[+] either in affirmance
of any proposition
or in disaffirmance.

faith may be generated — faith in any quantity -
either in affirmance or with by a process as
natural, and in point of success as sure, as by
a given quantity of rice or potatoes, a given
number of the portable and self moving
manufactories of this which commanding may
be and created and preserved
and kept in action.

9
And thus a cloak
for folly, a justification
for wickedness
may by the
ruling few to the oppression
& love of the
many be produced.

And thus it is that for folly in any shape
a cloak - for wickedness in any shape if a justification
and depravation and torment of the subject many be produced.
