Strange beyond conception
such sentiments should particularly

a quarter be expressed

first in dignity to find such affections sentiments such as these avowed, — avowed in signs not susceptible exposed of misconception
or explanation, in
signs which may endure
as long as the use of the press

of that vehicle of imperishable
information find their way
a fact this is one of those
facts in the viewing
of which a man can scarcely
believe his eyes the eyes
can scarce give credit to
themselves.

Necessary Causes of such expression
1. Addressor thoroughly
impregnated with them.
2. Do fully confident
of finding Addressee do.
As to the entertaining of such the sort of affection in question
among the ruling few the difficulty is the difficulty is — not to find those
by whom they are entertained, but to find those by whom they affections of any other sort are
not entertained. No: the difficulty — the only difficulty there
is is in finding those any among so many by whom they
are entertained, to find is finding so much as a single one by
whom they are avowed [For the production of such a
phenomenon nothing less than a miracle scarcely would could any thing have sufficed
and, this miracle has been found displayed itself come to pass]. For On the part of the person the production
of such so extraordinary a phenomenon phenomenon so irreconcilable with the
most ordinary rules of prudence two circumstances conditions must
have concurred, On the part of the person addressing the
most thorough impregnation with the antisocial principles of insolent
thus displayed; and a confidence clear of all doubt in
the party to whom they are avowed.
