Introd. IV
Rep. Spurious
§.9. Actors who?
Archbishops speech

Well but says his Grace (or what comes to the same
thing T. T. Walmsley Sec. for the us in the East but
India language of Hindustan they may say there is no
A between us —) when we say country we
mean country we don't mean government: when
we say country we mean the majority major part of the people
of the country.

Well then says the Oxford Graduate mean
that if you please: but see now whether you
will be much the better for it it

Taking the word country In this sense the in Ireland the religion of the
country is Catholic. In Ireland then according to
his your Grace there is not common sense in so many
being any thing but a Catholic

Now then suppose his Grace to take a trip for a while to
Ireland — Good hear in! what would be the consequence?
All of a sudden no sooner does he set is the most Reverend foot set down on Irish ground than
Behold his Grace — and this by his Graces own acknowledgement
destitute of common sense

Oh but says his Grace the observation
might perhaps have been of sense now to you in the
last century: but are for these sixteen years last
past nine or less, Great Brit Ireland has been stuck
on to Great Britain by Act of Parliament. The consequence
is that by that same act the quondam majority being converted into a minority the whole of the Catholic
portion of that population lost their whatsoever portion
of common sense had to till then belonging to them.
You are then This observation assumption of yours that by going to
Ireland I should lose any stock of common sense is
altogether a groundless one. Yes: say what you will, I may
go to Ireland and as often as I please, and from first to last still have remain
as
as full of common sense
as I am at present.
