§.9. Actors who?
Archbishops speech
31 May 1816

Having told him then where in whose instance hostility to him and those
who think and or act with him is not does not exist and in whose
instance the imputation thus cast upon them by him is
calumny I will tell him where hostility towards
him and his religion and his establishment does exist, and that is in
the breast of him by whom these lines are penning.
1. I am an enemy to his Liturgy and more especially
his Catechism because as I have so fully shewn
it the mention of it is so much poison to the morals as well as the understanding
of all who are impregnated with it.
2. I am an enemy to his Articles of Religion in the
character of propositions to which any person is called
upon to subscribe his assent, and that for the same reason
as is just mentioned in regard to the Liturgy. It is
not for any errors that may to be found in them: for
if in that same subject I had myself the framing of
any articles, I would no more endure to see men
called upon so to subscribe to them than to these. those.
Let him teach them to whom he will and welcome
so that his Scholars such his pupils be at an age of maturity, and neither
punished punished directly or indirectly made to suffer for not saying they believe in them
nor rewarded for saying they believe in them.
