Seen the injury to Ultramaria
from the claim
how heavy, thence how
intolerable to them, how
ruinous to you if persisted
in. See you shall presently,
that against this
injury their share in
Cortes Representation affords
no security.

Meantime, on you it inflicts
serious injury:
subjecting you to taxation
at the hands of persons
not chosen or removable
by you: weakening thus
18th fundamental principle
of the Constitution

In Cortes, see Members
stiling themselves your
representatives because
chosen by you: others, tho'
not chosen by you:
chosen in profession by
Ultramarians in their
provinces.

Yet not in truth.
By whom then? Most
favourable answer, silence:
by any but those
by whom in profession
chosen.

They who, under the
notion of taxing Ultramarians
for your benefit,
call for your obedience
to these spurious
representations,
will they accept of spurious
dollars or Vales
Reales?

genuine,
those by whom you are
governed are in that
proportion men to
whom your exigencies
are as little known as
theirs to you: [sympathy

Under the notion of
forcing others under your
yoke, you are forced
under the yoke of others
having interests distinct
and opposite to yours.
Benefit imaginary,
burthen real.

but by the counterfeit
representatives of these
strangers will you be

difference between real
and sham representatives
is matter of indifference,
or your injury
is great, and deception
