Mr Bentham's Church of Englandism &c examined;
edited by certain a disciple one of his disciples.

Preface.

Reader. The Book of Church Reform? Whence comes this
title?

Editor Editor. From that of Doctor Southeys work, intituled
The Book of the Church.

Reader. And why, for the extract you have thus made take
in this way a title from that Book?

Editor. Because the title so worded serves is of use to one purpose;
and that more ways than one. It helps to draw attention to
the plan of Church Reform we are re-editing; and moreover
to make the people to satisfy people that it is a needful, and unexceptionable one

Reader. To draw attention; yes: natural obvious enough this: yes: that I can concur well enough.
But as to the satisfying people this Mr Benthams plan of about what you mention
Church Reform is an unexceptionable one — how is that to be?

Church (as the phrase is) and to leave the spot vacant. Dr Southey's in that work of
his, — to gain support to that same venerable fabrick (as
another phrase has it. Mr Benthams attack how is it The attack made upon it by the philosopher has can

By whatsoever support may be have so been given to that same fabrick
how is it that aid has been given to the endeavours that have been used
to overturn it? to a plain man, this is not altogether obvious.
