stated as being expressive, apposite, appropriate, and
adequate: its meaning being that branch of art and
science which has for its subject matter quantity

But this of this word the meaning not being as yet generally understood
the word denomination not yet in universal use, as here, in whatsoever
degree unapt, of necessity put in front and employed
in the title to the work
