v Carlisle, the Judges declared — "That no statutable
"Remedies took away, unless by express words, or by
"clear and manifest intention, the Principles
"of the Common Law. — The Remedies given by
"such statutes were accumulative, and not
"abrogatory. In fact, this was a settled principle,
"to be found in all the Books most commonly
