Dear Sir.
Having returned all the other pamphlets you were
good enough to lend me for a specific period, I know not by
what accident the accompanying one has been brought
back to France, and now take the earliest opportunity of
returning it with many thanks for the perusal and an apology
for its detention.
Aware of your numerous occupations, I have abstained
from breaking in on your time of late, and
should not have done so in the present instance,
but that I think ought to explain why I left London,
without communicating the circumstance to you.
I had frequently done myself the pleasure of addressing
you on matters which I thought no less interesting As
the good cause, than yr. personal fame, and having
remained three weeks in Town afterwards, I was led to believe
that, had my poor services been required, I should have
heard from you during that period.. Your silence was therefore, the
real motive
