M.C.L to J.B. Q.S.P.
The Turkish vessel alluded to in your
note, has been in the river for some weeks —
She is a frigate belonging to the Pacha of
Egypt, but not armed. Her commander is
a Turk, and there may be 20 more Musselman,
on board her — The second captain is a greek;
and 56 of his countrymen comprie the
rest of the crew — These, I learn, have already
determined upon abandoning the ship
here; and arrangements are said to be made
or making for their immediate return to
Greece. This is what I have collected
partly by enquiry at Lloyd's, where I learnt
that no Turkish vessell had lately arrived here,
and partly from the Greek whose guest Mr
Pierli appears to be at present—
I am to
procure some information for him tomorrow
