1823 Jany 6
J.B to Bolivar for Miranda

& nearly related to Minister Pitt he has had the advantage
of passing two or three years in several countries
on the continent of Europe in different countries, and has even set foot in Asia:
at Sidon I think he said it was; or at any rate at some
port in Palestine; where he passed some time with this
singular patroness of his, who has still I believe, her
residence there. Owing to this and other circumstances, it is
not till within these few months that I have had any
cognizance of him. Understanding him to have been all
along, together with the rest of the family, under the direction
of Mr Vansittart our Chancellor of the Exchequer
to whose patronage they have been indebted for a comfortable
subsistence, I never saw not any prospect of being able to
be of any use to him, till t'other day, when I heard of his
being engaged in the undertaking abovementioned, on account
of an opulent mercantile partnership here. I have
taken advantage of what little time there was left, and
have put him under the wing of several lawyers, particular
friends of mine, who notwithstanding their belonging
to that rascally profession are men of benevolence as well
as of intelligence; warm and sincere friends to the cause
of the people, which I flatter myself he has, with equal
warmth and sincerity, he has espoused. By them he has
been conducted to some of our principal courts of justice
receiving from them such explanations as the time and occasion admitted of: a sort of instruction which I thought would be of use to him were it only
for the purpose for of his having in his memory so many
images, to which he might attach such accounts as from
time to time, it might fall in his way to receive of the proceedings
carried on in them. I have likewise
made him acquainted
with Newspaper Editors
and other men of
eminence distinguished
by their abilities
and zeal in the cause
of the people. I regret
much about them did
not admitt of any
those additions
that encrease which
I should otherwise
have made to the .

At the public school at which he was
placed, I suppose at the recommendation of some subordinate
of our corrupt bigotted and narrow minded Ministers Ministry
there was, as is universally the case in all our old established
public
