Hon, Col. Leicester Stanhope to John Bowring esq.Aneona 11 novr. 1823.

Monsr. Mela says, there us a report at Aneona
Marocordato has been sent as civil governor
to Messolungra, and Meliva is to remain there as the
military chief

Patras he thinks the only important fortress
in the Moreanow in the hands of the Turks. It is
surroundedcommanded by a hill, from which a plunging fire
might be poured down on the heads of the Turks.
This hill has often been in the possession of the Turks.
I can learn nothing about the Greek deputies that

classes have no capital should the property, to as—certain
it's proper value, be first leased out, and
then sold? Should it be put to auction? Should
it be sold in large or smaller lots? Should it be sold
to foreigners as well as natives? These are questi—ons
to which I solicit a detailed answer for sub—mission
to the Greek government. Mr. Mill, Mr.
Hume, Mr Hobhouse might be advantageously conduct—ed,
and local information obtained from captain
Blagview, and the Greek gentlemen of the com—mittee.
Be pleased to observe, that the captain
