You may rely on the following . Since the
year 1817, there has been a society established at Moscow,
the object of which has been to revolutionize Greece.
The Presidents name is Nicolo Panimali. There was
a member of this society, named Anastassio Forgosli
,
who contributes 25,000 rubles. As however, there was
another party of Greeks who were opposed to this society
and who wished to check it's progress, this faction held that he had acted foolishly in giving this
money, as it would not be advantageously apprehended.
This young man, being defective in judgement acceded
to their counsels, and called on the committee
to ecstone the money. The President told him that it
was dispatched and could not be restored. Jongaslis
resolved
to reclaim it, applied to the Government of Moscow
to interpose his authority. Panimali explained
that it was a voluntary gift devoted to the service of
his country. The Government of Moscow said, they
could not decide the questions. They referred it to St
Petersburgh. The answer ultimately was, that if the intentions
of the Committee were not admonishthe
Russian Government, they were at full liberty to
the interests of their country.
