Mon 26 March 1824 Sent this for inspection to O. & L.
They returned it the same day with Letter of thanks
Cefalonia 1 Decr 1823
My Dear friend,
Since I left London my time has been wholly
occupied about Greek affairs: Still I take shame to
myself for not having answered your kind letters.
The first I recd is dated the 14 Octr. last & the only
other one that has come to hand is of dated the 21st of the
month. The letter alluded to in yours of the
14 Octr. as having been dispatched on the 10th preceding
has never reached me. I feel uneasy about having
lost a paper containing your thoughts, but I endeavoured
to console myself by concluding that Parry will bring out the
duplicates. I have read all the your manuscripts with
attention & with delight. With similar feelings I have
perused several of your other works especially the Springs
of Action. To all the instructions contained in your
letters I shall pay the strictest attention.
In passing thro the Continent it afforded me pleasure
to hear your name so frequently mentioned &
your works so universally known & appreciated.
Even in these Islands there are many Civilians
who
