My dear Sir.

Your note of yesterday
has just come to me. When I
came away from the U.S. I left my
whole library behind me, with the
exception of our state papers, (in 9 vols)
the Laws of the U.S, Marshalls
life of Washington, and Smiths
history of the U. States. The last
my boys have now at school
with them. The others I have in
use, often daily, and the majority
