J.B. to Greek Legislature

Kurios Bentham indeed? Legislators!
I let me beseech you — no more Kurios. Say Doulios —
if you please O yes! say Doulos if you please sias — this is my already mine small this is my most
humble title

if some thing must at at any rate be put before my
if epi pias
— say Doulos, and you will say
that which is not more honourable in me than true
what is not only my greatest aversion, and strictly
true what can not always be said of titles,
strictly true. Were it for any bread that I were working for bread my labour
be my nature there it is.
How should it be otherwise!
I would not work more zealously, than I
strictly true. No; were it more my labours could
not be were it for bread. How should it be otherwise? for
do and in such labour is my highest
choicest pleasure. Seventy years ago I devoted myself
to the service of mankind: and now at length, for
by you I am am I now enabled — now at length
vow. am I in your service occupied in the performance of this vow.

This will be delivered to you by the worthy comrade
quondam companion comrade of our Lourith's Edward Blaqumorly
whose the his title you have given him you have of Philillen: notatos
in him by you as given to him in yours to me, continues to be so well merited:
but superlative, superlative as it is admitts I hope of sharers.
admitts of so at least you must acknowledge
you must acknowledge
admirable . or you will have
been sowing the seeds of jealousy between friends and
my friend, two of the most faithful of your servants.

Farewell Legislators! May success ever attend
your labours in the Council, as is does has done those
of your heroes in the field. happier the one [+]1
[+]1 Should any modern
Xerxes presume to
to obstruct
offer their obstruction, may
his fate be that of the
ancient one:

Already in my writing to you I have perhaps
I have written already to you written too much. I remain the that other the pen
pen with which which I was that uses writing with for you:
after subscribing What remains is to subscribe myself [+]2
[+]2 and with somewhat
more truth than is common
in such subscriptions,

Your doulos kadierotatos

Jeremy Bentham.
