the inactive part of the work. Of the other parts
which are destined to run along with it throughout,
viz. the instructions to the Legislation, by
which every chapter, is meant to be preceded of
this, together with the repository part, and the Rationale,
the best that I can say, is that they are in
a state of considerable forwardness. Regularly,
they should all of them accompany this enact
ive past. But circumstances seem so pressing
so urgent the demand for the other codes, that I see
not how I can avoid going upon them immediately,
although the postponement of the completion
of this same constitutional code will in
that case be a necessary consequence, unless I
can find a hand which, in my view, will be
capable as well as willing, to put in tolerable
order, the map, not a small one, already got together,
though not yet quite completed. The enactive
part, I hope, in some tolerable degree, serve
to suggest it's own Rationale. But some elucidations
in one shape or other, must, I think, and
therefore will be here and there interspersed.
Besides the abbreviations on the provisional constitutions,
the little tract instituted leading principles &
I think you have; and if so, may perhaps by
this time got translated and printed. I have thoughts,
however, of getting a translation made and along
with the original, column for column printed here.
If so, the edition with the measure of a few copies
will be sent to you to add to your stack.
