Dear Sir

This moment, ushered in introduced by a note from Messrs
Hallet Brothers and Co of this days date comes your
two favours dated 26 August 1822!!! mentioned by them
as only this day received by them. A day or two ago
I received intimation from a friend of mine, that a
friend of his whose name not mentioned is Walker, and who had already on a former occasion had visited
Buenos Ayres, was to take his departure for that place
as tomorrow, and that if sent today he would take
charge of any thing I might wish to send thither.

The two articles in question were received by me are that letter of yours,
and the printed State paper Minuta de reglamento
... de la policia de la Sala &c.

Place yourself, Sir, in my situation and you will have may form
some conception of the mixture of delight and regret
with of which the assurance confidence you express of receiving speedy
answer has been productive. In your By the
confidence thus expressed you did me no more than
justice. What must have been your hypothesis to
account for the long, and as you must have
concluded, the everlasting ultimate disappointment with which
it has been followed!
