1824 April 5
J.B. to Revadavia

After a delay but too nearly resembling though
not quite equalling that of yours, I had the honor,
not many months ago, of receiving from Liberator
Bolivar, a letter breathing the like bad sentiments:
a letter or mine, together with I forget what works
of mine had experienced the state of war, and of his
masses of matter others of subsequent dates, I have received ho tidings.
One went through his Agent Escheveria, who
not long after died at Paris, to the great regret of
all who knew him: he might have been an interesting
rival in fame, and coadjutor to you, had not a premature death thus s his career.
An intimate friend of mine, John Bowring, whose
name, if any English newspapers ever reach you, can not be
altogether unknown to you, saw a dispatch letter of his sent
to Bolivar which accompanied one of mine to him: the degree
of enthusiasm in which he Escheveria was pleased to speak of
me could not be said to was without exception
he said and could not be exceeded.

In a similar strain, I have received letters
from the constituted authorities of self-reg Greece: one
from the Executive body consisting of five, headed by
Prince Mavrocordato; the others from the Legislative body presided
by Orlando, who with Lurelles is here
on the occasion of a loan which has been obtained for
his country from some of our capitalists. I am the Master
of the present age in the art of legislation noriodidasealos
ta enneadenatou etous, and so forth: and the object business of
the those addresses is to engage my assistance in the framing of their
laws. Eye witnesses present tell me that in receiving, though not from without any
address
address to them, a
paper containing observations
on their provisional
Constitution, there
was an universal burst
of exultation with tears accompanied by
from tears from many eyes.
: and it was immediately
ordered to be printed on the arrival of their first printing press, since when I have received accounts of the impression's being commenced.
