The provisional government of Greece
The President of the Council To Mr Jeremy Bentham

May 12 1823

Mr Blaquiere the that friend of the Greeks & in conjunction with our
beloved fellow countryman Mr A. Lourcoles, having brought
in your name, to the Council of free liberated Greece in general
convocation assembled, your observations upon on the subject of our form of Government
& the Council now thereupon committed them forthwith to the examination charge of a person
skilled in the English language, that he might with directions to
translate them with our language as soon as possible into Greek with all particular despatch for the
general use & benefit of Greece our country.

It is the a duty of Greece incumbent on all as to acknowledge sincerely declare with sincerity
& freely how much she was affected & delighted &
seeing that the
the delight expressed by us when we beheld the purest of the nineteenth century suspended that distinguishes
for a time his wise observations directed to the the source of their labours which had been occup occupied in the endeavour to
provide the
general happiness of all Europe, for the purpose of and thus
devoting his attention & his labours them in so particular a manner to the particular special
happiness service of the Greek nations.

The Council , & publicly communicates in this feelspublic manner
to me you through you me its sincere joy & profound
gratitude on this account for this favour; confident that having with such a
coadjuter, who both knows the wants of the nation which is
rising again from its long fall depression, & who is the most
competent to discover the appropriate mode of treatment
for them, it will advance both with greater speed &
better fortune to the great work of the moral regeneration
