Springs of Action Table Introd

8

Nor [is it] to any such abstruse portions of the field
of thought and action and thought or in particular of the field of
art and science as Ontology and Theology that has the question — is this the name
of a real or the name of a fictitious entity
— confined
itself. Light and heat as every body knows have necessarily
been taken for the subjects of it: and as religion
divinity has had its alluists, so have Natural Philosophy
and Chemistry had their aphotists and
allurmists. But political establishments the ruling few not having
latterly regarded themselves as having in this case being in either of these cases
an interest [in settling the question] in the taking
a part in the dispute on the question whether light and heat are
respectively alsthrosymbolic or plastosymbolic alsthrosemantic or plastosemantic appellations,
yet [+]
[+] notwithstanding
[the justification
the good things
which might so
the bons mots
easily have been pleaded
the justification
in the Court of Wit]
the wit which might
be so easily be displayed
by setting
heat employing light and heat
in conjunction to afford to join in affording
proof of their existence
and reduce reducing
incredulity to silence

neither fire, nor sound, nor batter, nor starvation,
nor exclusion nor so much as and or execration have
ever yet been employed for in their ground in settling
opinion on the right side: [nor is it exactly in this
sense that by letting their light shine forth before men
it has of late years at least been contended that their father
which is in heaven will be more aptly glorified.]

18
These abstin people
of the field not the
only ones on which
the question as between

has been stated
Their light and heat
have had their aphotists
and athermepts
19
But here the ruling
few not having
regarded themselves as
interested have
left the question open
to free discussion, without
employing light
and heat in the shape
of panel for to settle it.
